The Story Behind SnagMag
Our business story is not a typical one. We didn’t decide to create a product and sell it to the public. I had no intention of quitting my teaching job to learn about the gun industry. I suppose you can say it was all a happy detour. Here is our story:
The SnagMag was invented by my husband, a plain clothes LEO who wanted a better option for carrying a spare magazine while off duty. Carrying it loose in his front pocket wasn’t ideal, as it was uncomfortable, would turn sideways or get tangled up with other items. Belt carry was out. Coat pockets get holes. There had to be something out there, right? After an extensive search, he didn’t find anything. One day, while shooting at the local range, he looked down at the knife in his pocket, and instantly had an idea for a mag holster. He quickly sketched it out, grabbed some Kydex, and started to tinker around. After a year of tinkering, testing and fine tuning with his buddy, the SnagMag was born. It was rough around the edges, but. . .it WORKED! Not only did it work, but it was comfortable and designed for a fast draw. He showed it to a friend, who showed it to a friend – and, as they say, the rest is history!
Many things inspired the SnagMag, but one true account stood out to me as a wife. An off-duty officer was having dinner with his wife around Valentine’s Day at a local mall. A gunman started shooting. The officer instructed his wife to call 911, and left to engage the shooter. He was overheard saying something like, “I can’t be doing this! I only have 7 rounds!” Now, we all know a gun fight only lasts as long as the ammo. After hearing that story, I encouraged my husband to move forward with SnagMag.
Honestly, we NEVER intended for SnagMag to become a thriving business. We were encouraged by key people in the gun industry to apply for a patent. We started out in our garage. Before we knew it, orders started rolling in, taking over our living room and kitchen. A favorite memory of ours: A family picnic on the kitchen floor, because every surface was covered with orders. We are thankful to those influential people who encouraged, guided, and believed we had a special product. We’ve grown, made improvements, and connected with customers across the country. We truly believe the SnagMag to be a life saving addition to Every Day Carry.

I like the Snag Mags so much I purchased two for each of my carry guns i.e., my Sig P238, my Sig 1911 Nightmare and my Glock. Not just a great product, but great customer service from this company, as well. When I had questions they contacted me both by email and by phone to make sure I was completely satisfied. A real breath of fresh air, compared to other gun accessory companies I’ve dealt with in the past.

This is the third SnagMag I have purchased, this one is for my S&W bodyguard .380. This is by far the most comfortable and least conspicuous magazine holder on the market! My other two are for my Glock 27 and my Beretta Nano. Of the three, the S&W BG mag is the most comfortable and concealable due to its small size and light weight. This is fine because I carry the easily concealed S&W BG .380 more frequently when I carry concealed, than I carry the other two. This is a very innovative product and performs well.

I really like the snagmag, it’s easy to use and conceals very easily. I think it might be a little pricy for what it is, but all in all it’s exactly what I was looking for!

I was looking for a way to carry an extra clip without having it sticking in my back when I sat down. The Snag Mag is very comfortable and easily accessible. With a little practice the extra clip slips out fast and is oriented in the correct position for an effortless and fast magazine change. Nice job to the people at snag mag. I will be ordering another one for my 1911 and maybe one for my Glock 17. Thanks again guys/gals. Awesome product. Lance D, Colorado

Decided to try the SnagMag magazine holder as I was looking for a secure and unobtrusive everyday carry magazine carrier for a Beretta Nano. The SnagMag is a simple design but after practicing removing from the pocket-mounted SnagMag it has proven to be intuitive and reliable. The old saying is that the simple solution is usually the best and it seems this is a winner!

I have just recently started carrying an S&W Shield. I thought it would be nice to carry an extra magazine since the single stack magazine holds only seven rounds. I was looking for something I didn’t have to attach to my belt. I ordered the Snagmag and had it in a couple of days. It is light weight, holds the magazine securely and very concealable. The magazine comes out easily and with a little practice you can change a magazine in seconds. I think if you try you will like it,

I ordered the Snag Mag for my 1911 magazines although I have tried numerous magazine carry modes and have a good system down I’m always willing to try most anything once if it looks good. This item is good and allows ccw people to have the critical extra magazine on there person at all times very discreetly.

Very light, but hopefully substantial enough to last. More friction is needed on the back of the clip or greater tension to help prevent the whole unit from being drawn from the pocket. It is truly necessary, as is stated with the instructions, to maintain constant pressure toward the rear of the pocket when drawing, to separate the magazine from the unit and have the holder remain in the pocket. Practice is necessary with each type of clothing to establish proficiency and confidence. Concealment has been excellent, so far, and I am hopeful that this will become part of my daily carry. If so, it is an excellent way to virtually double my carrying capacity.

I ordered mine and it came very promptly. I have been using it for a wile now and I see a couple of areas that could use improvements. it could use a little more retention, to me it just seem like it needs more. It holds the mag fine I just would like more retention. The second is the hook, it works fine in the place it is but I notice sometimes when I sit it will poke me. A little adjustment and I’m good again. Instead I would like to see it on the outside of the holder. If these changes were made I could give it 5 stars, but since it doesn’t I can only give it 4

love it!! ordering 2 more for other pistols.

I order a snag mag for my Xd and Xds, and both are fit perfectly to the magazine and allow me to easily carry an extra mag for each gun. the kydex seems like it should be very durable and withstand every day carry.

Why no one thought of this sooner is a mystery. This is an awesome product! It retains a fully loaded mag with assurance, looks like a blade or similar to the untrained eye, draws the mag easily and without mishaps, and it’s an everyday carry piece. Magazines can be bulky and eat up most of your weak side pocket but it’s worth it since it provides such a great concealment option. Thumbs up!

The SnagMag is absolutely the best way to carry an extra magazine that I have seen/used. Belt magazine holsters do work… don’t get me wrong, but they require just the right clothing to be concealed at all. The SnagMag offers a much more natural draw as well. My EDC is an XDS 45 and the SnagMag gives me a quick, reliable, comfortable, and concealable way to have ii rounds available, because you never know what you might encounter. If you carry a single stack compact defense gun, you owe it to yourself to give the SnagMag try, I did… and I’m extremely happy.

Goods:
• Gets the magazine out of the way of your pocket front
• Looks like a knife
• Keeps the magazine positioned so it is easily accessible
• Genius design
• Positions the magazine in a comfortable spot for me
• Helps me maintain the Concealed part of Carry
Bads:
• The material it is made from. I just received this and have not tested it over time but I am worried about it cracking due to use. I wish it were more substantial. That said there is nothing I’ve seen like the SnagMag on the market and I would have still purchased it had I seen it first. Better material and I’d give it 5 stars
From the SnagMag Team:
Thanks for your review, John. We appreciate your feedback. To address the durability question. . .prototypes that are 3-4 years old are still in use with no issues so far. However, if there is ever an issue, we are dedicated to make it right.

This is a great pocket holder for small single stack mags. It was the perfect solution for my spare lcp mag.

I work in plain clothes and try not to “look” armed and carrying an extra magazine is hard to do in that situation. Snag-mag has solved that problem for me. Light weight, dirt simple to use (with practice),
So far I am very happy with the product and not that I see how it carries a G19 mag I may have to order a 17rnd sized one.

I recently got my CHL license from Texas and I couldn’t find a way to carry a spare magazine that I actually liked.
Behold the power of Google search brought me to this product.
I was skeptical at first considering there are almost no reviews of the product on major gun boards, so I figured, why not and bought it.
It’s comfortable, discreet, and most importantly, quick.
I recommend this to anyone looking to carry a spare magazine.

This is easy, stable way to carry a spare mag. Easy on, easy off and very accessible and concealable. It just a little space in your pocket. Just clip and go.

The holster works fine except that you have to pay attention to the top round in the magazine. Due to the bottom of the holster being square and the top of the magazine being angled it works the round out. This could be fixed by angling the bottom of the holster or enclosing it to keep the round in place.
Moses –
The concept works really well for the most part. However, with the popularity of the available seven round magazine, it would be nice to see a model specifically tailored for this option. The seven round magazine sits too high in the magazine holster as it’s prevented from dropping all the way down into position by the grip extension. It’s clear that this holster was designed with the six round magazine in mind. If you use a seven round magazine with your P938 be aware that the mag will be slightly looser and more visible as it’s not sitting in the holster quite as it’s meant to. Still, all and all, this is the best option I have found for concealed carrying any additional magazine.
***From SnagMag: Dear Moses,
Thank you for your review. We do our best to listen to our customers and add to our inventory. You’ll be happy to know we are currently working on a Sig P938 7 round SnagMag. We will send out a “New Models” announcement very soon. Hang in there!

Yep, had it for a few days now and have practiced with it many times. It is definitely a technique that is easy to use and impliment. S&W Shield 9 with extended mag fits perfectly. It’s a little flimsy but holds the mag well. I feel it is a good thing because it can flex a little in the pocket and the clip won’t bend out as easily as pocket knife clips IMHO.

I picked up a couple snagmag’s to carry an extra mag with me in my front pocket. I’m a huge fan of this product…I used to carry an extra mag in a belt holder but this lets me remove that extra external holder and carry in my weak side pocket.
Gordon Bisdorf –
The snag mag is an excellent method to carry your spare mag. Easy to use and access. My only criticism is that the mag butt seats to near the top of the snag mag, making it visible to a decerning eye. Worth the money. Would(will) buy again.
SLash –
Excellent product. I’d been looking for a way to securely pocket carry a second magazine for my P938. The SnagMag fit the bill perfectly.
